Stroke can develop at any age, but its frequency and prevalence increase with age. Age is one of the major non-modifiable risk factors, regardless of the type of stroke. After the age of 55, the likelihood of developing a stroke every ten years doubles, regardless of gender [1]. It has been shown that 82 % of stroke cases develop after 65 years of age, 50% of them in patients over 70 years of age, and about 25% after 85 years of age, while age has a negative effect on stroke outcomes [8].
