Background

In Ayurveda there is very core eye focus on the concept of Naveen or Purana Aahara dravya, like Ghruta, Guda, Guggulu, Dhanya, Madhu and Madya etc. There is a major difference between properties of Purana and Naveen state of same food article so the indication also differs.

As Purana and Naveen state of food article has specifically given importance by our Acharya in different Diseases. It was always needed to analyse the qualities of Purana and Naveen Aahara Dravyas like Ghrita, Madhu, Shali Dhanya and it is still needed to be done to understand the concept behind the uses of Naveen and Purana Dravya.

In the diseases like Prameha, Sthaulya Santarpanjanya Vyadhi, Purana Dravya is very effective, as they are Laghu, Ruksha and can help very effectively in condition like Ati Kleda Avastha where we need to detoxify the body. Naveen Ahara Dravyas are having Guru, Brumhana properties indicated for sports players, athletics, children and for Rasayana, vajikarana purpose.

Conclusion- This article is helpful in understanding the concept of Naveen and Purana Aahara Dravya and to understand the Gunantaradhan (increase in potency) in food articles which takes place as time passes.
