Abstract

Dentin hypersensitivity is a prevalent condition causing sharp, transient pain upon exposure to thermal, chemical, or tactile stimuli. This study investigates the clinical efficacy of NEMA-containing desensitizers as a novel treatment for reducing dentin hypersensitivity. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with patients exhibiting moderate to severe sensitivity, where participants received the NEMA formulation over a four‐week period. Pain levels were measured using a standardized visual analog scale at baseline, two, and four weeks. The treatment group demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in sensitivity scores compared to control groups receiving conventional agents. The hydrodynamic mechanism underlying dentin sensitivity was effectively countered by the occlusive and remineralizing properties of the NEMA formulation. Findings suggest that NEMA-containing desensitizers offer a promising alternative for managing dentin hypersensitivity, thereby enhancing patient comfort and quality of life. Further studies are warranted to assess long-term outcomes and optimize application protocols for enhanced clinical effectiveness. Overall, results are promising.
