Modern Aspects of Morphological Features of the Thyroid Gland in Autoimmune Thyroiditis
Abstract
Chronic autoimmune thyroiditis is an organ-specific autoimmune disease that leads to progressive death of thyroid cells and is the most common cause of primary hypothyroidism. Morphological diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis presents significant difficulties due to the variability of histological forms. The article provides a review of the literature on structural changes in the thyroid gland in autoimmune thyroiditis.
