The article provides an overview of the latest data on the structural and functional characteristics of the spleen, a peripheral organ of the immune system. Data on the stromal-lymphoid relationships of the organ, on its capsular-trabecular formations are presented, and the latest data on the T- and B-cell zones and structural and functional features of the spleen during the life of young mammals are also described.
