Abstract

Bariatric surgery in patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus presents special considerations. This review article explores the impact of different bariatric surgical procedures on cardiovascular risk factors, as well as their mechanisms of action on carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. It also highlights the outcomes of restrictive and bypass bariatric surgeries in individuals with both obesity and type 2 diabetes.
