Abstract

The article is devoted to the health-improving value of walking as a method of disease prevention to increase human life expectancy. It is shown that moderate physical activity in the form of dosed walking helps prevent many diseases.

Scientific and technological progress leads to a decrease in human motor activity, which leads to an increase in the number of diseases associated with hypokinesia. The resulting deficit in motor activity can be compensated for by a natural method of physical activity - walking. Walking is available to everyone, regardless of age or living conditions. Walking is the most common type of locomotion, the purpose of which is human movement. Walking involves the entire human musculoskeletal system, and the main force ¬that ensures body movement is muscle strength. Dosed walking is the most common means of preventive and restorative medicine. Moderate physical activity in the form of dosed walking helps prevent many diseases. It has a positive effect on the course of cardiorespiratory diseases, immunity, the state of the gastrointestinal tract and musculoskeletal system, reduces the risk of cancer, improves the quality and duration of life. According to recommendations, people under 20 years of age should have regular aerobic exercise on average 4 times a week and for at least 30 minutes. The WHO strategy on staying active in old age aims to achieve the highest level of health and well-being for older people and older adults by increasing their daily physical activity.
