Specificity of the Condition of the Oral Cavity of Patients with Diabetes
Downloads
Patients with uncontrolled diabetes have oral complications such as xerostomia. Changes in collagen metabolism and, consequently, changes in periodontal fibers cause periodontal diseases, which are caused by the presence of microbial plaques and poor oral hygiene in most diabetics. There are numerous studies showing that the prevalence, progression, severity, and degree of chronic oral diseases increase significantly in DM patients.
