Abstract

People with head injuries are at least three times more at risk for epilepsy than the population. Traumatic brain injury refers to the main risk factors for epilepsy, along with a severe family history for bacterial meningitis, heroin use, or epilepsy. Although head trauma accounts for only 5% of all cases of epilepsy [1], post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE) is a very large problem. Most importantly, traumatic brain injury refers to etiological factors that can prevent epilepsy.
