Abstract

Eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, central retinal artery occlusion, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and dry eye syndrome are associated with many components of metabolic syndrome. Several studies also show an association between metabolic syndrome and the retinal microvasculature. Studies have reported associations between components of metabolic syndrome and eye diseases such as dry eye syndrome. This article is devoted to the analysis of modern data and literature on fundus changes in metabolic syndrome.
